This is Me Right Now...

No, I do not have a bald spot - it's just my fingers showing through my uber-thin hair.

...because playing around with skirt designs is a frustrating pastime. Actually, because I hate when things don't turn out exactly how I planned them...even when a potentially cuter alternative comes along. "Maybe," mama said with a grin, after listening to my lamentations, "God wants you to get used to it - remember Benjamin Franklin?"
"It was Thomas Edison!" I burst out, after a moment of surprise, and so I laughed which makes many things better - mostly. But I still needed some help, so I had some comfort food....

Fresh sourdough bread!
And smelled these lovely roses my students gave me...
They've been perfuming my room all weekend!

And got out this movie to watch as I finish the ironing...

Pretty much my all-time favorite animated movie
And remembered that, in the big scheme of things, it won't matter a whit if it takes me a couple more days to work out the quirks on this skirt. In the big scheme of things, it will simply matter that I stopped and smelled the roses, tasted the sourdough, laughed at the silliness, and learned the patience and flexibility I tend to so not have time for! in my own mind.

O, to patiently learn patience...

Ooooh, patience is such a hard lesson to learn isn't it.... :(

Love the skirt though.... :)

...and glad you took time to enjoy the bread, the roses, and the movie ;)

Lovely roses. We are keen to see Tangled in this house, but it's not out on DVD over here yet, so we will have to have a bit of patience too :0)

Oh, Sarah, I have to tell you something funny! I tried commenting on your post earier today - numerous times, without success. Not sure what the problem was, but it was trying my patience. :)
I am glad you were able to find joy amidst the frustration. Your post reminds me of my last sewing project, several years ago, when I made pajama pants. I bought one of the the easy one-hour patterns. But it took me more than a day. And, I realized I really am not a seamstress when I sewed the pockets shut. I wondered, "Why do pajama pants need pockets anyway?" I finally finished them and learned lots of patience in the process. :) Hope you finish your skirt successfully and without much more frustration.

Yeah, I THOUGHT I commented on this post days ago. :/ That was when my commenter thingy wasn't working either.

You are one of the best people I know at smelling the roses and enjoying the process. I love learning that from you!

Anne, yes, it's hard to learn! But I am blessed to be surrounded with so many pleasant distractions... :)
Kirsteen, everyone in this house - young and old - loves the movie! You will have to let us know what you all think of it. It is well worth waiting for. :p
Ruthie, that is so funny! Sewing something I'm not familiar with is always a battle in my mind: Do I compromise the quality and get 'er done? ...it'll look fine either way... :)
As for the commenting, I was having the same problem on other blogs too...
Lilla, yuppers! It's one of the best! :)
Mika - hooray! now I can comment too!
